Tiger Fighter

One of the most interesting themes in this short story was the cost different people were willing to pay just to get a perfect tiger fighting scene. The “Prince” ended up becoming mentally ill because he was so convinced that he was truly a tiger killer and wanted to keep killing tigers again and again. Despite the disaster that occurred the first time, the employees were willing to have him try the scene again – which ended up being just as much as a failure. What stuck out to me the most when it comes to this is how the crew treated the truck driver who volunteered to be in the tiger suit. Even when the crew knew he was seriously hurt, the director stopped others from intervening before the scene was perfect – so much so to the point that he was hospitalized. I think that this is an important commentary on the cost of fame and how far different people are willing to go to please others.
