Control and Kitchen Knives

I thought that the section titled ā€œCā€ by Chuang Tzu was extremely thought provoking. The metaphor of the knife and life was especially interesting. The idea of trying to force something makes it so much harder, like the mediocre chef and his hacking. But if you were to let the knife, or life, guide you and accept the sentience of the object, you will have a much easier time. In essence, this is tackling the idea of control that someone has in life. The truth is, no matter how much one thinks they have control, they have little control to what happens to them. In the end, life will continue to throw curveballs at you even though you have struck out, it is relentless. To have true control, one must let go of that false sense of security and go with the flow.
