This has just made me realize how grateful I am to live in a republic society like America. In the saboteur story, a policeman spilled soup on a man and a wife and when the man tried to speak out, he was thrown in jail for what appears to us to be no reason at all. When he tried to get a lawyer, the lawyer was tied up to a tree for the entire day to be shamed. They were pretty forced to be compliant and sign a statement saying they made false claims. This no choice and no voice in the dictatorship also applies to the bad joke in terms of you can’t say or rebel against the government no matter if you are just talking to your friend. The tricky part comes in culture wise when it really is hard to just lie as well as go against your government.
