“The Cairo House” vs “A Woman is No Man”

“The Cairo House” reminds me a lot of a book I read for fun called “A Woman is No Man” because they’re both about young women from non-western cultures who live in a man’s world. Both the girls in the stories are thrown into arranged marriages, determined mostly by status and wealth and not at all by love. They both went through the same emotions of wanting more from life but knowing, because they were women, they wouldn’t be able to ask for what they wanted. Because of these similarities between a book I read for fun and this book for class, I look forward to reading this book and find it holds my attention. It also makes me appreciate the United States now, which allows me to marry whoever I want based on love, not on social status.
