History of Chinese Painting

This week for our ICR we were presented the history of Chinese painting by Dr. Gonz Chu. We began discussion of the 6 classes of art. This was a great way to be introduced into Chinese art. The main artform we focused on today was calligraphy. This was very interesting to learn about how the art form has changed over time. Lastly, we got to experiment with a calligraphy brush which was very cool. Dr. Gonz Chua also gifted us each art pieces that he painted which was very kind.

In this meeting I learned about the 6 classes of art in China. I also got to learn about calligraphy and even got to experiment with it.  I had no idea that calligraphy was so intricate and how it evolved over time.

This meeting helped me gain appreciation for the Chinese artforms. It was great to meet Dr. Gonz Chua. He was very skilled at calligraphy and art and it was amazing to walk out of the meeting with a piece of art from D. Gonz. I am not very interested in Chinese artforms.
