After Cowboy Chicken Came to Town

I really enjoy reading fictional stories like this that are based in other cultures. It helps me understand what is normal or abnormal for that culture, how the people in that culture speak, and how stories are written. This one specifically was interesting because the story showed me several ways in which American restaurants and Chinese restaurants are different from one another. Buffets are not popular in China, considering they are an American custom–something I never thought twice about since I’ve grown up going to buffets. Also, the way restaurants handle money and left over food is different in the United States and in China. The US will throw away extra food at the end of the day, which is something that baffled Peter, but is common knowledge to those who have grown up in the US.
