It helped me better understand what a group of people different from me were going through during that hard time of not being able to see others in person. I liked how the Muslims created new ways of worship by throwing rocks at the pillar to keep distance from one another while still holding a religious significance. I wonder if that&#8217;s something they will continue to do even as the quarantine rules are lifted. I should&#8217;ve asked that question in class, but it&#8217;s also something I can definitely look up in my free time.<\/p>\n<p>Learning about the five pillars: shahada, salat, zakat, scum, and hajj, were very enlightening. The pillars remind me of the 10 commandments in the Bible, which I&#8217;m sure others thought, too.<\/p>\n<p>Another thing I liked learning about was Ramadan and how fasting can effect other areas of your life, if you&#8217;re Muslim, that other people in the United States who aren&#8217;t Muslim don&#8217;t even think about. I never realized Ramadan was so long and fell around finals week. That would be terrible to not be able to eat while writing a paper or having big meal right before or after a hard test.
