The beginning of this chapter presents an interesting issue considering refugees. The author talks about how he is returning to Iran and encounters an airport agent who is the same age when he arrives. There is a moment of awkwardness when the agent asks what his point of origin is, to which he replies \u201cAmerica.\u201d He then asks the required question \u201cwhere have you been?\u201d The author says that the agent asks him this question in an accusatory tone. This shows how big of a difference there can be between two people who should be relatively similar. The author\u2019s choice to spend time in America created an entirely different pathway for his life as opposed to someone of the same age, from the same place, and with similar traits than those who did not leave.
