It talks about how Amina and Muhammad’s father met, at Ka’ba, now an Islamic holy site. When Amina was pregnant, she was told by God that she was pregnant with the “lord of this people” and that she was to name him “Muhammad”. We’re told that during Muhammad’s pregnancy, his father Abdullah passes away.

During the time of his arrival, there was famine and drought. Muhammad is then given a foster-mother, Halima, the only one who willing breast-fed Muhammad as an orphan during the time of famine. It is said that 2 men in white came and took Muhammad as a baby and cleansed his heart and belly extracting the evil making him pure.

It wasn’t until the age of 40 that Muhammad sent by God “in compassion to mankind…”. The passage also talks about the Islamic view on sin, and forgiveness, “Do not regard it as a bad thing for you; nay it is good for you. Every man of them will get what he has earned from the sin, and he who had the greater share therein will have a painful punishment…”.

I found the passage on Muhammad’s life to be insightful and informative. Although the story is quite shortened, it still hits the major events of Muhammad’s life and gives an understanding of who he was and how he became who he was.

Ibn Ishaq Messenger of God, starts by talking about the birth of Muhammad and his mother, Amina.
