In Sura 2, I thought it was important to note that Islamic tradition claims that there is nothing like the Quran and that it is distinctive. There was also a clear emphasis on predestination, as it states \u201cAnd who believe in the Revelation sent to thee and sent before thy time and (in their hearts) have the assurance of the Hereafter.\u201d In the second section, there also seems to be a lot of discussion about the Day of Judgement, where Allah decides where people will spend eternity, and the text notes \u201cOf the people there are some who say: \u201cWe believe in God and the Last Day\u201d but they do not (really) believe.\u201d There was also a fair amount about angels in the assigned Suras, as well as an account of the Creation story, however, it is a bit different than in Christian and Jewish tradition. In the Bible, for example, there are stories told in various texts aside from the Genesis account of Creation that go into more specifics and expand upon it, but this is not the case in Islamic tradition. I also found it interesting to note during our discussion was that although Islam does not necessarily have a lot of extensive requirements, the ones that it does have are laid out very clearly. I also thought our discussion on the Sabians religious group in the Middle East was interesting to learn about, as I had never heard of this group before, including that they are the last surviving gnostic group.<\/span><\/p>\n
