There are some differences between Muslim funerals and more standard American funerals.\u00a0 The family members wash the deceased and wrap them in white clothes.\u00a0 Men wash the men and women wash the women.\u00a0 When bathing the body, it should be washed an odd number of times.\u00a0 The burial occurs as quickly as possible.\u00a0 There is usually no viewing.\u00a0 There is a funeral service, however.\u00a0 During the service, a prayer called the Salat al-Janazah.\u00a0 The body is placed in a grave so that they are facing Mecca.\u00a0 In some more traditional communities, women are not allowed at the fneral.\u00a0 Cremation is forbidden due to the belief of resurrection.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I wanted to write about Muslim funeral traditions after seeing many items used for a funeral one day during my ICR at Nur Allah.\u00a0 I helped them move items used for funerals and they pointed out the room they use for preparations.
