The Data4Good Competition is open to undergraduate and master\u2019s students across the U.S. Teams compete within their regions for cash prizes, with regional winners advancing to present at Johns Hopkins University\u2019s Carey School of Business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While the name highlights analytics, the deeper story is about stewardship: how we use our skills and knowledge to serve others and make meaningful impact. This competition goes beyond technical ability. It\u2019s an invitation to strengthen consulting-style problem solving, analytical expertise, and collaboration through purpose-driven projects. Participants engage in professional development sessions, earn free industry certifications, and connect with leading corporate sponsors \u2013 all while using data for good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since its founding in 2022, Data4Good has brought together students, educators, and industry leaders to collaborate on data solutions that create social impact:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>2022:<\/strong> Students partners with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sil.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SIL Global<\/a> to create captions for children\u2019s Bible stories in low-resource languages.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2023: <\/strong>Teams improved healthcare documentation using AI models to structure physician-patient transcripts from a <a href=\"https:\/\/predictionguard.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Prediction Guard<\/a> client.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2024: <\/strong>In collaboration with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.taps.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors<\/a> (TAPS), students analyzed grief data to support families of fallen service members.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2025:<\/strong> This year\u2019s challenge focuses on improving the factuality of AI-generated educational content, provided by <a href=\"https:\/\/predictionguard.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Prediction Guard<\/a>, to promote truth in an era of misinformation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Together, these projects have awarded more than $110,000 in student prizes and led over 1,500 students to earn Microsoft certifications in Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) or Artificial Intelligence Fundamentals (AI-900).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Data4Good thrives on strong partnerships and our success is made possible through the support of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Dr. Dan Whitenack<\/strong>, CEO of Prediction Guard<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Aaron Burciaga<\/strong>, CEO of ZETEC<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Nick Ulmer<\/strong>, Principal OR Analyst at CANA<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Carol Curley <\/strong>and <strong>Bill Griffin<\/strong> of INFORMS<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mafer Bencomo <\/strong>of DataCamp<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Dr. Lori Downen<\/strong>, <strong>Rochelle Fisher<\/strong>, and <strong>Liz Moran<\/strong> of SAS<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Through these partnerships, students engage with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.informs.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">INFORMS<\/a> and the Certified Analytics Professional (<a href=\"https:\/\/certifiedanalytics.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CAP<\/a>) framework, learning stewardship through structured problem-solving and ethics. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.datacamp.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">DataCamp<\/a> expands our reach by providing a global learning platform. While <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sas.com\/en_us\/learn\/academic-programs.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SAS\u2019 Global Academic Programs<\/a> continues to model and lead analytics education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As Liz Moran of<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sas.com\/en_us\/home.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> SAS<\/a> shares, \u201cData4Good Competition is about more than analytics \u2013 it\u2019s about using the data to make a difference.
