They focus on cultivating a safe, engaging environment to educate and communicate with each other, get involved in activism, learn new skills, and have fun!<\/p>\n<p>Alliance activities include discussion circles, game nights, field trips, drag shows, dances, craft nights, fundraising, and more.<\/p>\n<p>Their office is located in the Diversity Center in the basement of Atherton Union (004), with office hours every day of the academic week.<\/p>\n<p>All are welcome to join regardless of sexuality or gender.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>The Efroymson Diversity Center<\/summary>\n<p>The <span style=\"color: #347da9\"><strong><a style=\"color: #347da9\" href=\"https:\/\/www.butler.edu\/diversity-equity-inclusion\/efroymson-diversity-center\/\">Efroymson Diversity Center<\/a> <\/strong><\/span>(DC) exists within Butler University\u2019s Division of Diversity, Equity &amp; Inclusion. Our mission is to empower students by building an inclusive community, advancing equity, and creating meaningful impact that will support them throughout their Butler experience. The DC space is located in the garden level of Atherton Union, Room 004, which serves a safe and accessible physical environment for student engagement, support, and community building with a focus on identity.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The DC is includes space for several identity-based student organizations, prayer and meditation space, gender inclusive restrooms, a lounge for Butler students to enjoy, and much more.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>Gender Inclusive Housing<\/summary>\n<p>Students may opt in to Gender Inclusive Housing (GIH) when completing their housing application for each year they live on campus (including their first). This option is available on the <em>Personal Information Review<\/em> page. If a student opts into GIH but still needs to identify roommates, the roommate selection process allows said student to see others that also opted into GIH.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GIH means that students with any gender identity or expression may live together in the room or suite\/apartment. This includes transgender, nonbinary, and gender-fluid individuals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hundreds of students each year opt in to GIH. For students of different genders wishing to live together on campus, <em>all<\/em> students must have selected this option. This ensures that room- and suite-mates have consented to living with someone of a different gender.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #347da9\"><a style=\"color: #347da9\" href=\"https:\/\/www.butler.edu\/student-life\/housing-dining\/\"><strong>Residence Life<\/strong><\/a> <\/span>strongly discourages any students in romantic relationships from living together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For students interested in GIH but unfamiliar with the spectrum of gender identities, please use&nbsp;<span style=\"color: #347da9\"><a style=\"color: #347da9\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thetrevorproject.org\/resources\/article\/understanding-gender-identities\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">this resource<\/a> <\/span>from the Trevor Project to learn more.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>Counseling &amp; Consultation and Health Services<\/summary>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.butler.edu\/well-being\/counseling-services\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.butler.edu\/well-being\/counseling-services\/\"><span style=\"color: #347da9\"><strong>Counseling &amp; Consultation<\/strong><\/span><\/a> and <strong><span style=\"color: #347da9\"><a style=\"color: #347da9\" href=\"https:\/\/www.butler.edu\/well-being\/health-services\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.butler.edu\/well-being\/health-services\/\">Health Services<\/a><\/span><\/strong> staff regularly receive training to increase their awareness of and sensitivity to the needs of the LGBTQIA+ community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Intake forms for Counseling &amp; Consultation and Health Services provide spaces for students to disclose their preferred name, gender, pronouns, and sexuality (if they so choose). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Sexual Health Resources\n<ul>\n<li><em>Sexual Health Supplies<\/em>: Condoms and dental dams are available free to students on campus in Health Services, the Efroymson Diversity Center, from dispensers in HRC restrooms, and also from dispensers in residence halls. In addition, students can have free sexual health supplies delivered to their place of residence.<\/li>\n<li><em>STI, HIV, and Syphilis Testing<\/em>: Butler University has partnered with the Damien Center to offer free HIV\/Syphilis testing on campus (availability is dependent upon the Damien Center&#8217;s resources). <br \/>STI Screening and testing is available in Health Services but not free of charge. Students can pay the following ways: submit through their medical insurance or post charges to Butler student account or pay for the tests out of pocket. Butler University Health Services can\/will refer a student to <span style=\"color: #347da9\"><a style=\"color: #347da9\" href=\"https:\/\/bellflowerclinic.org\">Bell Flower Clinic<\/a><\/span> or <span style=\"color: #347da9\"><a style=\"color: #347da9\" href=\"https:\/\/www.damien.org\">Damien Center<\/a><\/span>, which are both local resources which offer very low to no cost for STI testing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.butler.edu\/well-being\/health-services\/student-health-insurance\/\"><span style=\"color: #347da9\">Student Health Insurance<\/span><\/a><\/strong> Coverage for Gender Affirming Care<br \/>\n<ul>\n<li>The student health insurance plan <em>does not<\/em> cover the initiation and maintenance of hormone blockers and\/or hormone replacement therapy, top surgery (mastectomy, chest reconstruction and breast augmentation), complete hysterectomy, and genital reconstruction and related procedures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>Gender Inclusive Restroom Map<\/summary>\n<p>An accessible map of campus, including a filter of gender inclusive restrooms &#8211; by building &#8211; is <strong><span style=\"color: #347da9\"><a style=\"color: #347da9\" href=\"https:\/\/map.butler.edu\/?id=416#!ce\/15038?ct\/2980,2982,2983,2984,12674,12675,12678,12688,12689,32199,65182,65183,2988,34664,14669,12679,12680,12681,13552,13494,13495,13485,13486,13487,13489,13490,13492,13493,65184?s\/\">available here<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>Changing one&#8217;s name, gender, and pronouns <\/summary>\n<p>Information for how a student can change their preferred and\/or legal name is <span style=\"color: #347da9\"><strong><a style=\"color: #347da9\" href=\"https:\/\/butleru.my.site.com\/askbutler\/s\/article\/Who-should-I-notify-if-I-change-my-name\">available here<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.
