It is really interesting to see how far music has evolved as time has passed. When I listened to the videos embedded in the reading (for 8/31), such as “The oldest song in the world” it was not what I was not a type of music I have listened to before. What it reminded me of was the type of music they play in movies portraying ancient Egypt and that time period. However we can still correlation and how music and instruments have evolved from that long ago all the way to current day. I noticed how the “lyre” instrument resembles a harp which we still see being used today. The instrument the man in “the oldest song in the world” video is playing resembles a guitar. Although the ancient instruments may be very basic and outdated pieces, I think we still can trace them to modern day pieces that are distant adaptions of them still currently being used.
