Creation

This week has been a neat experiencing in learning about both Biblical creation and musical creation, and also how the two go together. As we learned on Tuesday, creation is a process that is unique to each person and to each project. Creation can start in many different places: we could start from scratch, we could start with something that many would consider to be already complete, we start anywhere in between. Today, we discussed the many different apps, websites, and software available to help us in our creative process. I was completely unaware of the vast resources available to the general public in terms of musical creation. Many of the apps are very intriguing, and even if I don’t have much musical talent they are still fun to play with.

In addition to the apps we talked about today, I want to mention a couple of others. There are actually many apps that will teach you, or help you develop skills, in playing a musical instrument. One time long ago I was gifted a ukulele, so I decided I would try to learn how to play. An app I used during that time is called Yousician, and it provides some free services teaching users how to play the guitar, the ukulele, or the bass. Other apps that I used in high school when I was in band are tuning and metronome apps. There are several of these available for free, and they can be very helpful in tuning instruments or even measuring vocal pitches.
