Aaron Copland’s “In the Beginning” is truly a work of art in all ways. The way it is able to convey not just the words of scripture, but also the emotion behind it is truly amazing. I have not heard many people who have achieved the same level of emotional conveyance, especially in myself. I usually do not understand information like emotions through written means, so it feels wonderful to have something like music to help bridge the gap between the page and our minds. This musical interpretation in particular showed a deeper view through dynamics and rhythmic stylings. It shows the Copland knew the emotional parts of the creation story and was able to help show it to those of us whom listen to his work. It really opens up new avenues of scriptural intake of information.
