Biblical Movies

Class Tuesday, 09/21, made me think about all the different types of performances we see that depict the Bible’s stories and messages. In class we watched a small clip from the cartoon children’s movie, “Prince of Egypt.” This made me think about other ways the Bible has been performed and “promoted.” I decided to look into it and something I found was a website showcasing its top 20 picks of movies that are in some way an adaptation of an aspect of the Bible. Some include the 1961 film “Barabbas,” a 2014 movie “Exodus: Gods and Kings,” another children’s biblical movie, “Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie” by the children’s biblical cartoon show, “VeggieTales,” and and 2006 movie, “The Nativity Story.” All of these are different movies over a long period of time all in some way depicting the Bible.
