I had never really thought of the music from the Baroque Period to be overly ornate before. It had always simply been how I understood “classical” music. Until actually understanding baroque to mean overly ornate and extremely detailed, I had never noticed this side of the music from this period before. However, now that I know this, it is very easy to notice how much more ornate this music is than any other type of music. I think it’s very interesting how simply understanding the meaning of a word can alter your perception of music and other things. This makes you wonder how much of a different understanding you could have when you actually study music or sacred texts. It would most likely provide a much deeper and more nuanced understanding.
