A Handel to open a door to the past

While discussing the works of Handel in the world of religious music, it became quickly apparent how much effort he put in to his pieces. It is clear that Handel put a great deal of thought into the details of his musical selections for worship. Zadok the Priest, in particular contained many lines that I felt it was not just about the music, but how the music was performed for those whom were able to hear it. I personally feel as though Hadel knew just how important it was that he maintain the integrity of the pieces he interpreted through music. It was not simply enough for him to write a pleasant musical piece, he needed to write one that could carry the artist’s message across to the listeners.
