The story of Jesus’ death and crucifixion is one of the most well-known stories in our society. There are very few, both nonbelievers and believers, who have not heard this famous story in the modern age. Children are taught from a young age the story or have it passed down to them. For this reason it should come to no surprise that there are musical interpretations of this famous death story. The idea of Passions is not an entirely knew idea to me, as I have seen the movie The Passion of the Christ. The part that caught me off guard was the idea of musical Passions existing in society. While I was thrown for a loop by the title of these musical works, it came at no surprise that they existed. Overall, I find it is helpful to have a word to refer to these musical compositions that I no longer had.
