In class on Thursday, 9/23, we listed to music by Handel. The song I recognized was “Hallelujah”. I never had looked into who wrote that song and how old it was until we went over it in class. I found that it was composed in 1741. I did not know it was that old of a song, I also did not know Handel composed so many other songs as well. The collection we listened to had a long list of different songs to check out. It is interesting how a song from 1741 is regularly used in churches today, as well as entertainment. I know I have heard the song “Hallelujah” in movies and tv shows. It seems especially common in Christmas movies and shows. We also looked at an episode from “The Crown” which goes along with what we discussed the class before. It is interesting how common the Christian religion is in entertainment.
