A few classes ago we discussed the story of King David and Bathsheba. For me, this is a story that I’ve heard hundreds of times throughout my life in a variety of forms from movies to songs and of course from the original Biblical scripture. Growing up, I saw this story as a sort of lesson that taught the idea that you will always pay for the sins and mistakes that you make. In this story, David payed for having the husband of Bathsheba intentionally killed through the death of his firstborn child. It showed that even David, a king, couldn’t avoid punishment for his sins and that one day or another we will have to face some sort of backlash for the sins we commit.
