Alan Hovaness song played during class is a peaceful, calming song. It’s doing things that tradition music does, it’s doing modern and from the 20s sounds. Then towards the middle it isn’t calming, it is very haunting and sounds like tv static. The ripple before it, there’s a crescendo of eerie/scary movie type of sound.
There’s two genealogy versions of Jesus. The romantic part of this era was about conveying emotion. Some may thing that modern music this day has not expressed being able to feel a connection through the music, but that is not the case. Theres a mathematical element to it, we see it and we hear it. Having two melody’s can be doing two different things. Sometimes the things that emotionally connect with us is two melody’s doing different things. I think that its so true, like when the twelve tones was happening, there was so many harmonies going on and it was soothing. I also felt the connect from it even though the lyrics were ABC’s and Mary had a little lamb, etc.
