The passage from Song of Songs showed a lot of poetic imagery. It’s full of poetic romance and was how flirting worked in the bible. This was seen as compliments and romantic. In today’s society, we wouldn’t take that as flirting, we would find that really weird. The text isn’t in our language even though it’s translated in English. It was said that metaphors and imagery in this example can’t be translated. Widows are often in a vulnerable place, people were showing kindness though.
Naomi had her step daughter go get dressed and look her best to go lay at Boaz’s feet. Like an arranged marriage was the goal as she was next of kin. I don’t know my bible that well, but I heard that boaz was the type of man
In Deuteronomy, it’s mentioned how people are in relationships that go back ten generations or so, which means technically they’re marrying their kinfolk.
