The language that the texts use in Song of Songs differs greatly from some of the modern love songs. Modern love songs incorporate ideas that the ancient texts in the Bible talk differently about. Some people may interpret these texts as an overall symbol of Jesus’ love for the Church, or just as romance in the Bible as a result of God’s gift of lovemaking and marriage. It can also be seen how this God given gift can be misused however, because some passages can be interpreted as being outside the context of marriage. Because of the difference in language and change with time, we can reflect back to what these texts might of meant for the ancient people reading this ancient text.
