retelling is often used in music to tell a story in a more memorable form. this retelling can exaggerate the story the way that folk tunes tend to but however, it is exaggerated or not it helps tell the story with more emotion than if you were to just read it. with retelling in song one is able to back in the ancient times when not many could read it would allow people to hear the biblical stories and remember them.
