General Assembly Meetings – Moving In-Person and Expanding to 90 Minutes

As we begin the new academic year, the Staff Assembly Executive Committee has reimagined the structure of our General Assembly meetings to ensure they provide greater value and impact for all staff members.

This year, we are returning to a fully in-person format for the first time since COVID. While remote options offered convenience, we believe that gathering together will foster more active participation, genuine conversations, and stronger connections across our campus community.

We are also expanding the meeting length from 60 minutes to 90 minutes. This additional time gives us space to include interactive components, elevate staff voices, and provide meaningful opportunities to hear from campus leaders and one another.

At today’s meeting, we are pleased to welcome Melissa Beckwith and Jonathan Purvis. They will share updates on the University’s strategic direction and provide insight into the current campaign.

In addition, we will hold a vote on proposed updates to the Staff Assembly By-laws. Your participation is critical as these updates will shape how our Assembly operates moving forward.

We are excited for these changes and believe they will create a more engaging and collaborative environment for all. Your presence matters, and we look forward to seeing you at 2:00 p.m. in Jordan Hall, Room 141.

Thank you for your continued support and commitment to our campus community.
