General Assembly Meetings<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Will there be a virtual\u202foption\u202ffor Staff Assembly meetings?\u202f <\/summary>\n

Yes. While Fall 2025 focused on in-person attendance for community building, meetings will return to\u202fa\u202fhybrid format starting in Spring 2026.\u202fThis ensures accessibility for staff who cannot attend in person.\u202f <\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

How can I stay updated on meeting schedules?\u202f <\/strong><\/summary>\n

You can find the calendar on the right side of the Staff Assembly website. We also recommend using the\u202f”Subscribe to our Updates”\u202fbox on the website to receive email reminders and calendar invites (.ics\u202ffiles) directly.\u202f <\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Parking & Transportation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Why are “A” parking stickers sold if the lots are often full?\u202f <\/summary>\n

There are currently\u202f325 “A” designated spaces\u202fand over\u202f1,300\u202fadditional\u202fspaces\u202fwhere “A” permits are valid (such as Hinkle and the Parking Garage). While 1,253 permits are issued, administrators\u202fmonitor\u202fthe “tipping point” of availability. If you find an “A” permit no longer suits your schedule, you may swap it for a prorated refund for a Garage-only permit.\u202fContact Parking Services for more information:\u202fhttps:\/\/www.butler.edu\/campus-services\/parking\/<\/a>.\u202f\u202f <\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

What options are available for staff with mobility issues?\u202f <\/summary>\n

 If ADA spaces near your building are full, you may park in any “A,” “B,” or “C”\u202fpermit\u202fspace. If further\u202fassistance\u202fis needed, contact\u202fBUPD Dispatch at 317-940-9296\u202fto request an escort or shuttle\u202fassistance.\u202f <\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Professional Development & Travel\u202f <\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Why are staff excluded from summer travel abroad opportunities?\u202f <\/summary>\n

Summer trips are typically academic courses where faculty teach specific curriculum to enrolled students. They are not general tourism opportunities. However, spouses who travel often do so as hired “Support Persons” after background checks.\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note:\u202fStaff enrolled in a degree program may be eligible to use\u202ftuition remission\u202ffor study abroad if they\u202fmet\u202fcredit hour requirements in\u202fprevious\u202fterms.\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do I have to use PTO for faith-based professional development?\u202f <\/summary>\n

If a professional development activity is not part of your official work duties, it is considered a personal activity and requires the use of vacation time\/PTO. If you believe the activity aligns with your work duties, please discuss it with your supervisor.\u202f <\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Facilities & Campus Life\u202f<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
What is being done about building maintenance and safety (e.g., Robertson Hall leaks)?\u202f <\/summary>\n

Facilities\u202fis\u202faware of ongoing issues like roof leaks and sidewalk maintenance. Updates on long-term repair plans (such as the Robertson Hall roof) are periodically provided by\u202fFacilities\u202fleadership during General Assembly meetings.\u202f <\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Are there dining options available during the summer?\u202f <\/summary>\n

Dining hours are adjusted based on campus foot traffic. Typically,\u202fPlum Market\u202fremains\u202fopen in May, while\u202fStarbucks and the Marketplace\u202freopen in June to accommodate summer camps and conferences.\u202fCheck the Bon Appetit website for hours, menus, and more:\u202fhttps:\/\/butler.cafebonappetit.com\/.<\/a>\u202f\u202f <\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Can I organize a staff social group?\u202f <\/summary>\n

Absolutely! Staff Assembly encourages the formation of book clubs, walking clubs, or other interest groups. Subscribe to the Newsletter: <\/strong>To receive email notices, subscribe to our Announcement feed by adding your email to the “Subscribe to our newsletter” field on the Home Page<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Add General Assembly Meetings Directly to your Outlook Calendars: <\/strong>Go to the Staff Assembly events page<\/a>, click on an event, and use the “Add to Calendar” button to add a calendar item.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Watch for Butler Today Announcements: <\/strong>The Staff Assembly Communications Committee will post upcoming General Assembly meetings, activities & socials, and more to Butler Today periodically. Please note that General Assembly speakers\/agendas will be posted to Butler Today and the Staff Assembly Events calendar one week prior to the meeting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Join the Staff Assembly Teams Channel:<\/strong> Any Butler staff is welcome to join the General Teams Channel for Staff Assembly<\/a>. We hope you might use this space to connect with one another, ask questions, and share information of interest to Butler staff. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Consider Joining a Staff Assembly Committee:<\/strong> We invite Butler Staff to consider participating on a Staff Assembly committee<\/a>. If interested, please reach out to the corresponding committee convener to check availability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nominate a Colleague or Yourself as an At Large Executive Committee Member:<\/strong> There are 12 elected members to the Executive Committee with staggered terms, and a Call for Nominations usually takes place in March or April with Staff-side elections to follow. A term is 3 years that begin and end June 1-May 31.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
