Untitled<\/p>\n

I have been here before,
\ncountless times.
\nNot at this ungodly hour
\nof 430. I follow a well worn
\ngame trail that runs along the back
\nside of my little woodlot.
\nAlthough I carry an electric torch,
\nI will not use it
\nin fear of making my presence known.
\nI will be guided by illumination of the moon.
\nI\u2019m heading toward the slow moving
\nshallow creek that runs
\nfrom the lush bean field
\nto the impenetrable swamp at its end.
\nI smile as I silently make my way through
\nbut in reality the creatures of the night
\nheard me the moment
\nI stepped into their backyard.
\nI have released
\na carbon graphite projectile
\nat one of the four gray ghosts
\nthat magically appeared.
\nMy drawback and release
\nwas automatic from hours of practice.
\nThere was no way to practice controlling
\nmy racing heart nor the weakness
\nin the knees,
\nmy launch was true.
\nI stand over a beautiful gray ghost
\nwith pride and joy for my accomplishment
\nand shed a tear of sorrow
\nfor the life I have taken.<\/p>\n
