Reflecting on the Pop Up Museum

This past Friday (1/26) we hosted our very first Pop Up Museum at the table inside Starbucks. The aim of this event was to have both prospective Butler students as well as current students/faculty/staff reflect on the transition between high school and college.

The museum featured 3 artifacts which are available to rent through the mobile lab, as well as objects brought by the community. The lab brought a skyphos depicting scenes of education, a ceramic pig rattle given as an offering when one becomes an adult, and an epinetron depicting a wedding scene. We also featured community items, such as a Latin textbook which got someone into classics, a Butler jacket purchased on the day someone decided to attend Butler, and a monogrammed hand towel in Butler colors given as a gift for high school graduation.

We had a great time talking with people who stopped by and reflecting on what an exciting time of change these transitions can be. We’ll be hosting a second Pop Up Museum on February 23rd and hope to see you there! We encourage you to bring an item that represents your transition from high school to college and donate it to the museum for a couple hours that day.
