Upcoming Events!

Mark your calendars for exciting new events happening in the world of Classics for the next few weeks!

  • Wednesday April 10, 7:15 PM at Purdue University (Armstrong RM1010), Dr. Bernard Frischer, Professor of Informatics at Indiana University Bloomington and Director of the Rome Reborn Project, will be giving a Public Lecture titled “What Can You Do with a 3D Reconstruction of Ancient Rome?”
  • On April 11-14, DePauw Theatre is presenting The Trojan Women, by Euripides. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. From the website: “Euripides’ Trojan Women is the one of the greatest anti-war plays ever written.  It depicts the suffering of women and children after every war.  It has been used many times to protest against war and to act as a warning for audiences who see it.  It can also be a consolation for those who are suffering, because in it they see that over the ages, others too have suffered.  In our moment in time when war should be obsolete, it is a time filled with perpetual war, fueled by a hunger for power, and yet rather than spreading democracy, the tragedy of displacement, death, and destruction is spread and must be endured by those current victims of war, just like the Trojan women.”
  • On Friday April 12 at 7:30pm, Claire Lyons, the Curator of Antiquities for the Getty will be delivering a keynote address on Etruscan Wall-painting as part of the Indiana Classical Conference spring meeting. Dr. Lyons will speak at DePauw, which is hosting the ICC event. The talk is free and open to the public.
