About Us

Our History

Butler University Community Outreach Pharmacy joined the Indiana University Community Outreach Clinic in February of 2009. Since then, we have continued to grow our services and have been recognized several times for our services to the community. The clinic was recognized by the Indianapolis City Council in 2012 for improving the health of east-side communities, and in 2013 the clinic received the Indiana Governor’s Service Award for Service Learning in recognition of our focus on inter-professionalism. The community we serve is centered around the Near Eastside Community of Indianapolis. Our clinic currently works out of 3125 E 10th St.

Our Mission

The mission of BUCOP is centered around service, education, understanding, and advocacy. Our organization provides pharmacy services to the underserved and uninsured communities of Indianapolis, including disease prevention education, medication counseling, and provision of free medications for acute and chronic diseases. The pharmacy also provides a unique educational opportunities to Butler’s student pharmacists. They are given the ability to learn more about clinic management and work with colleagues from other health disciplines. The clinic is also a site for medical research that explores social, cultural, and financial influences on the delivery of healthcare to uninsured and under-served populations. The goal of our research is to ultimately improve the overall health and quality of life of our patients. Finally, the clinic is a strong advocate for universal access to adequate, safe, and affordable healthcare for those in need throughout Indianapolis.

Our Formulary

Below is our most current drug formulary. These medications are used on a regular basis to provide vital care to the patients at the clinic. Because we functon as a physician-dispensing clinic, all prescriptions must be submitted by the medical students or physicians. We are always looking for ways to improve the medications we can offer, so return now and then to view the most recent formulary.
