LETTER TO MY FATHER
by DESTINY
Hey dad! How are you?
I miss and love you a lot.
Well I miss what I can
barely remember
I see a profile that…
looks something like mine
But that’s not much.
You were here
now you’re gone.
Where were you when,
I needed you?
You were supposed to teach
me things that my mother
couldn’t. Don’t get me wrong,
But there’s just some things my
mom can’t comprehend
as a woman. Like the
way a man is supposed
to treat me. Or how to
be tough when my backs
against the wall. When
I needed you the most
you weren’t there for me.
I used to yearn for your
presence, now I just accept
the fact that you didn’t
want me. That spark of hope
I had for you, will always
hold a tiny place in my
heart. I mean you are my
dad, and I still wish you were
brave enough to have ME,
I said ME as your daughter,
your child, your baby girl.
I wish you were brave enough
to stick around, to see ME
I said ME grow into a
BEAUTIFUL young lady.
What can I say though?
It’s your loss not mine
you’re the one who missed
out on what could’ve been
the best years of your life.
You missed out on
Father Hood.
