  • PAINTED LIES

    by PAULA

    Painted lies
Tell stories of the times you’ve cried.
    I held you tight,
Stayed with you through the night.
Your blood ran free through my fingers
    And I hoped,
    For a moment,
    The lowness of the blow,
The tenor of the symphonic show
Would get the best of you.
    Your wasted smiles
Remind me of the times I wept in denial.
Concern and care fill up the empty space
    Once compressed with air.
I’m the one who’s been there since the beginning.
I’ve helped you through the hard times,
    The never happy endings.
The green eyed monster I hold inside tries to vanquish the hurt,
    The despise,
The wonder of what she has that I don’t.
The chance of finding another like you
Is one in a number that,
    More than likely,
    Won’t ever appear.
So remember the next time she makes you shed these tears,
She rips through your heart and plumages through your fears.
Remember when she leaves you hanging high and dry,
Who was there for you the first thousand times?

  • UNSTITCHING THE UNSEEN

    by BRANDON B

Intoxicated dreams is where everything is adjacent to what it seems, lies on lies, unstitching the unseen by its seams. Provident schemes followed closely by damsel screams lead the way that’s already paved. It’s never too late, they can be saved. Severely eerie smiles can be spotted for miles. Glassy eyes reflect no emotion, what do you see any devotion? Or the sorrow of a saddened weak-willed soul floating to heaven from an abortion.

  • SNOWY BLOOD

    by SHERROD

The sun was gone and the snow was starting to fall
Letting the cold air take over and blow everything away
The snow started off white and turned red
A nightmare came onto the town
I remember in the movie everything changed
The screen dimmed down and the music faded
A guy came down and he was looking enraged
    A killer looking for revenge
He spots an innocent little boy and goes for the kill
A squeal follows through the town like a dolphin’s squeak
But, this wasn’t for a location, this was for help
A knife pieced through a black shirt to the chest of a young child
Passing through the heart and out the back

His body plops down in a blanket of roses and covers the snow with blood
Hours pass and no one comes to the rescue
Flies fly around the body for the sweet taste of the flowing plasma
Days fly by and someone finds him
The funeral goes on and everyone sighs in regret
Regret that they couldn’t do anything sooner

The screen brightens up as the funeral continues
The piano plays while the day goes on
Of a sad song that everyone knows
Saying sorry goes around in the hall and tears of the family fall
The boy is gone and the world goes on
But there is a good thing from this story
The killer will always be gone

  • DROPPING WORDS, EDUCATIONAL WARFARE

    by ERIC

    Lethal injection
    Sharp minds
    Cause mental dissection
    Of the past way
    Of educational warfare technician
Intelligence is decapitated and split again
Cleavers towards the heads of thought
Bullets and Uncle Sam are thrown onto tables in classes
    Seek peace
When war was so ever sought
    To happen
Nuclear bombs replace m-80’s as fatal attractions
    Videogames transition into live grenades
A magnet in the circular office is cause for the action
    Tragedies tragic
    Middle Eastern remains scattered
    Whatever matters
    The troops are sent into
    They are trained to handle
    The media devours
    Slinging propaganda
    In hours
    Kill an insurgent
    Take a non-threatening wound
Exclaiming that something to be proud of
    Twin towers turned powder
    Oil the source of power
    Burning currency
Purging into a state of the quiet man
    To become louder
    Leaving the defenseless without umbrellas
Unable to deflect the chemical showers

  • CHANGE FOR CHANGE

    by ERIC

    Swift famine
    Wrath from lack of education
Streak through the barrels of handheld cannons
    To riddle bodies
    With the unease of poverty
Till the last malnourished is standing
    Severely outlandish
    Severed portions
    Unmorally granted
    Embracing heaven
    The arms of the angels
    Remain not tangent
The charities take on responsibility for change
    Asking for change
    The range of difference
    Is vaguely explained
