  • THIRTEEN WAYS OF LOOKING AT LOVE

    by KYLA

    I. 13 ways of looking at love.
Through the night and songs from
    Above.

II. Turning the pages of starlight,
    Unlocking pictures of his might.
A cunning artist at the sea
    From now until immensity

III. A treasure chest to conceal a heart,
So none will ever be apart.
The swing, the waltz, the tango,
    Reveals a symbolic rainbow

    IV. His eyes are gorgeous,
    They set me free;
    Across my loving memory
    V. Like an ember from the sun’s rays
He sets my hear on fire,
    It’s love for burning desire.
    There’s not one that betrays.

VI. It’s crazy how one feels,
    A passion beyond waving teal.
    Roses are red, lavender’s violet.
So it is ultra, the steel is now silent.

VII. It’s ineffable what one would do,
To drown, die, or burn because they
    Love you.

    IX. It’s worth the crime,
    Like Bonnie & Clyde.
    If theft could pay,
    Would you love me?

    X. It doesn’t take a glass of wine,
Or a box of chocolates, or
    A clock’s chime.

    XI. It’s a charisma you can’t resist.
Like a siren’s song, It is bliss.

XII. Jack and Jill will go up the hill
And then they will fall. Yet they
Wont break any bones cuz they had
    Fallen in love.

XIII. Now tis last, the dreams enclosed,
A sacrafice and a sweet love notes.
Through the night, songs from above,
Now you know 13 ways to love.

  • HIDDEN

    by CURTIS B

Hidden faced. Hidden in places behind this mask,
nobody understands my pain so don’t even ask
Or bother because of my mask my father
Doesn’t talk to me or his daughter. I hide
My face because of the laughter, the chatter
The burns my ears from the years of all these tears,
My fears, exist no more they’ve been slammed
Shut and locked behind a door.

  • THIS IS MY LIFE

    by JAMMONICA

Sometimes, I don’t feel like doing anything just want to lay in bed using all my magic cause that is what I do. I can see do t hing fly levitate and freeze things. I finished what I started when the day I become a daydreamin hero. Daydreaming in my favorite singer, music video then I be singing it, “Don’t  tell me I am a heartbreaker cause my heart’s breaking.” When I freeze things like when my best friend is angry and wants to break something. Because I live in an apartment. If I could wish, I would want to be a genie, because their powers are amazing. And their clothes etc. When I’m driving in my car I’d be singing Honeymoon Avenue “You drive know how to drive in rain, but you decided not to make and change stuck and the same lien going the wrong way home.” My favorite line from Titanic, “I’ll never let go of my love.”

  • BREATHING, HERO

    by KATRINA

    “Breathing”-Jason Derulo

I only miss you when I’m breathin’
I only miss you when I’m breathin’
    Without your love don’t know
    how I’ll survive,it’s you, it’s you
    that’s keeping me alive
I only miss you when I’m breathin’

    “Hero”-Mariah Carey

And then a hero comes along
with the strength to carry on
and you cast your fears aside
and you know you can survive
when you feel like hope is gone
look inside you and be strong
and you finally see the truth
that a hero lies in you

The reason I like “Hero” by Mariah Carey is because of my hero and the hero I plan to be. I plan to be like my hero. My hero is my mom. She takes care of me and makes sure I have what I need. I don’t know what I would do without her. The love she provides for me is out of this world. I like to say “my life is a puzzle, I fall apart but in the end someone picks up my pieces and puts me back together.” That person who picks me up in the end is my mom. She’s always there. And I love her.

  • SUCH BEAUTY IN ONE MAN’S LAUGH

    by DAIZJHA

He’s laughing at the boy who spreads ketchup on his golden chicken.
His laughter’s thick and lofty, filling the room
with its sound, drawing the family’s attention
to the boy. The children join in the laughter,
for this tradition of eating chicken is foreign
and new. Smells of divine meats and vegetables
fill the home, overpowering this laughter.
Again it’s silent and the clang and cling
    of silverware resumes.
He’s stuck his gaze on the boy as he eats his
    meal and chuckles.
    He’s cold yet warm.
He’s the hoe no the pickaxe in the shed.
His light’s dim and suspended in darkness.
He’s the beginning of the hurricane, the instant from calm to danger.
He’s a black onyx wrapped in silk and grunge.
He’s the canyon you wonder where it ends, where it begins.
He’s midnight where everything is hushed and silent but the people know
there are secrets in the dark.
But somehow this boy of weird taste brings out a genuine laugh,
    a joyous smile.
    A remarkable night.
It has been a while since he’s laughed this laugh
covered in dust and cobwebs from the months and years
    of non-use. The family knows
this and they can only be grateful for
that night laughter has never struck that man
so hard he fell from his chair
holding that tiny belly. That night ended
with such beauty in one man’s laugh.
