  • WHY IS THE EARTH ROUND?

    by FLOR

    Because
    the sun burned
some of it off and shaped it.

    Because
    squares don’t look good.

    Because
    it doesn’t matter.

    Because
    it makes more sense.

    Because cereal bowls are.

    Because
    a lot of things are.

    Because
    special things are.

    Because
    why not?

  • BLACK & WHITE

    by NIAYA

    A miracle we have color
                            so vibrant, it’s so fair
                but when I look back
                at 1950 films
    I can’t help to think
                                        “is this really real?”
    we have green now
                purple and blue
    red and pink
but back then its all hueless
    boring and meek

    was there really color?
did everyone wear the same thing
were trees contained with black leaves
because if they were then why weren’t they green?
maybe someone had to invent colors
                                        they were just tired of
                            the same old thing
now of course we have vibrant
    settings
                            except for in our phones
    for when we edit
then you see Black and White
    and I think the same
                question all over again.

  • ALPHABET

    by DARIA

Do you know how the alphabet was made?
I wonder that maybe someone just
said animals names or fruits, toys
like apple, rat, boy, zerdy pig and others
and though I want to take the first letter
of all of these words and put them in
line from the way I came up with them or how
many lines but these just wont do it.
Do you wonder the same thing?

  • DID YOU EVER WONDER?

    by DARIA

Sometimes I wonder how men get gray hair.
Do they dye it or are they born with it?
Most of the times I can’t believe that it is a part of the normal life
because it grows in the most weird ways.
I just had a thought and wanted to share it.
    And let it go.

  • OLD FRIEND

    by PAULA

    Dropped everything
    for you
    once again. Just like
    you never left.

    Big brown eyes, strong arms,
    consuming me in a way
much less than what I’m used to.
    Breath stopped, hitched, caught.

Caught up in the way you
looked at me, in a way much
different than what I’m used to.
    Swear I thought I’d never
see you again, but here I am.

5 years gone, and I miss
    my best friend, miss having
    long talks all night.

Miss you holding me when I
drop tears like bombs, like time-
    bombs sensitive to the advancement
of my life, unattached to you.

you tossed me like a grenade
    and swallowed the key
like I had to swallow my dreams
    of us.

    Because people grow up,
    grow apart, grow used to
    separate lives.

    And now I’m alone grinning
and bearing it, alone without you,
in a way much less than
    what I’m used to.
