  • BLACK & WHITE

    by NIAYA

    A miracle we have color
                            so vibrant, it’s so fair
                but when I look back
                at 1950 films
    I can’t help to think
                                        “is this really real?”
    we have green now
                purple and blue
    red and pink
but back then its all hueless
    boring and meek

    was there really color?
did everyone wear the same thing
were trees contained with black leaves
because if they were then why weren’t they green?
maybe someone had to invent colors
                                        they were just tired of
                            the same old thing
now of course we have vibrant
    settings
                            except for in our phones
    for when we edit
then you see Black and White
    and I think the same
                question all over again.

  • SAXOPHONE

    by NIAYA

You can feel the love as
    it goes on

    All the swaying hands
    and bobbing heads

    The room is silent
not a word to be spoken

    the sounds of the saxophone
    inspiring the broken

    Warming the hearts
    off all the dead souls

    Bringing smiles and showing
    hope

    The saxophone that plays
    It’s so outspoken

    showing the love for
    all of the unawoken

  • WRECKING BALL, A PARODY

    by NIAYA

    We dumped, we threw
    Our trash and knew
The wrong we were causing to.

    This world smells
    Bad and I’m so sad
Just think of our future selves.

    Don’t you see my peeps
    This world really reeks
and it’s all because of us.

    Can’t you see what
    We’ve become,
    Destroying what we’ve worked
    So hard to love?
    Don’t you wanna see
    Your kids grow up
    Or do you wanna
    Die of carbon dioxide,
    Just fall to the ground
    And die?

    And you’ll just wonder why
    Pollution leads to global warming
    And sea levels will rise

    Floods will appear,
    Everything will disappear
    And nothing will be left.

    Don’t say you’re sorry,
You’re still doing the same thing,
    Trashing up your own place.

    Look at what we’ve done,
    Throwing trash and forgetting
    How it’s left a mark.

This world has been through enough,
Throwing all our trash out our cars.
    All of it piles up.

And we’ll never see this world in peace
And we’ll never see this world in peace
