THE WORLD GOES ON
by ISIAH
From mutation to evolutions,
The no thoughts and the thought of
The world goes on.
Due to the little change that we brought on.
I mean who cares about the
Panic attacks, the global warming climax
And humanities collapse
Because the world goes on. And
All we did was leave a small indentation,
A bad scar, a bad memory
Shaping how the earth’s crust forms
And soon we could move mountains
And harness the power of thunderous storms.
But that’s in the future and, even still, the world goes on.
And don’t get me wrong, don’t get it twisted.
We did good things too, but
We throw them away like we didn’t even miss it.
Because its easy to get bored easily,
So we build new toys to give us happiness
Let’s reminisce, no stop reminiscing
If I did this I did that
Because really we’re just scared of success
No one’s scared of the future; we’re scared of the present.
But the world goes on,
And this is how we live it,
This is how we see it, touch it, smell it, cuddle it,
And still the world goes on,
And no matter what we do,
It will never stop turning.
ROCK ON!
by PRAYYER
Trudging to the sea,
There is a spark on my tail,
Let’s see what it is.
An amplifier
Underneath the sand and rocks
Starting to unveil.
I turn – 360
Only to see Mick Jagger
Playing his guitar.
I asked, “Can I join?”
He said, “Well of course, why not?
A new band is born.”
We started to rock
Until there was nothing left.
I started to drift.
I tossed and I turned,
Just to realize I’m in bed.
I haven’t moved an inch.
I look around me
To try to sense something real.
Nothing comes to sight.
In the back of my mind,
I swear I still hear his voice
Like a fading siren.
I REMEMBER
by ALYSSA
Do you remember?
Just a few years back,
I was in a middle class,
the shortest of the lot…
Do you remember?
When everything was maybe not simple,
but it all made sense?
Back when R-E-S-P-E-C-T wasn’t just a song.
Do you remember?
Sitting in a circle and making beats together,
back when we were all friends AND family?
When music is a way of life?
Do you remember?
Me?
A sweet little girl, not even 13?
A hyper tiny dreamer and her dingy alto sax?
Do you remember?
The music we played,
and the songs we sang,
dancing around our heads like Apaches?
I…
I am remembering…
A time where dreams became reality,
because we made it so.
I am remembering
a time when that dingy alto sax
was equal to a bit of cash
on the street corner, if you played well enough.
I am remembering
a time when there was no such thing as being “fake,”
because labels didn’t matter
unless it was your name.
I..
I don’t want to remember…
Was I a fist-fighter?
A rebel?
I don’t want to remember…
I was younger,
my dad was abusive,
our tears filled that fire’s hunger…
I don’t want to remember,
how even when I was bad,
I was good,
a vigilante for the weak.
You see,
it’s these,
these memories,
ghosts of the past that make us who we are.
We learn, live, and grow.
That was yesterday,
but what about
Tomorrow?
THE EDGE OF MY MIND
by ALYSSA
I’m sitting again,
on the edge of a cold brick wall,
somewhere between the ruins of my once peaceful mind,
and the intellectual bounties of a world outside.
I’m between two not-so-different places
exchanging glances
with scornful faces.
You see,
in the world that is my mind,
a world that never sleeps,
there’s never peace.
There’s no war,
but it seems the fighting may never cease.
So from the edge of this cold brick wall,
I rise, ready to build my mind with bounties from each of it’s sides.
This wall has begun to warm from light shining on both sides,
welcoming greetings, from a newer, stranger world
of reality,
glad to see me face it.
As for the fighting between me, conscience, and I,
I’m ready to end it.
It’s time to obliterate this wall
so that I may expand a piece OF my mind,
to regain peace IN my mind,
and share it
with the world
outside.
GRAY
by DAEZY
Does the world have a voice of it’s own?
Or do we create it?
Do we demand control over something far more powerful?
Or do we just sedate it?
The questions of a human being are always involving the word “solve.”
We thirst for something bigger, stronger,
As time moves on, and we evolve.
So for those who see in black and white,
I am your perfect shade of gray.
Because I am not the belle of the ball,
The trendsetter,
Or the smart one.
I am just your normal teen
With a new idea
To bring to the scene.
I will announce it to the world.
“I’m just a normal girl,
But I am on a quest for difference!
I am not afraid of change!
So for those trapped in a world of black and white,
DARE to be a shade of gray!”
The world is ever-changing now,
But we can change it for the better!
We just have to open our hearts and minds to a new idea.
Be different, or rather be courageous!
I see the world in black, white, and gray.
Because for every dark storm cloud, a white cloud.
For every hurricane, a rainbow.
For every hungry child, a well-fed one.
For every depressed teen, an anti-depressant.
The world has numerous good and bad colors.
But gray divides them.
Gray is neutral.
So am I.
So why not be prepared for gray?
