Chapter 4 Post

Briefly describe how Nadia was deceived into the sex trade. Why did she leave Moldova? Where was she going? Where did she actually go?

Nadia had a young son and couldn’t afford to pay the school’s enrollment fees or buy a school uniform. Nadia didn’t have any family members that could help her either. She met a “friend” who told her of an opportunity to work a job in Italy. Nadia was offered a job within a week and she made the split decision to go, to leave her son behind in hopes of making money that she could save to help her son. She left in hopes of providing for her son.

Nadia believed that Katrina had found her a job working in a restaurant in Italy. She met 6 other girls who were told the same thing. At first the group of girls were stopped at the Border with Romania then she was kept for seven days in confinement and was told that they had trouble securing tourist visas. They then left for Serbia. Once they were able to get to Serbia they were told to “perform” well because men would decide if they were suitable enough to work. Nadia and the other girls were very skeptical by this point but followed instructions. Russian men in Serbia took Nadia and she now worked for him as a sex slave. After a while Nadia was saved by a Romanian girl were sent to Albania. On a boat the driver stopped and raped her before taking them across the border. Once in Albania the POLICE met the girls and took them and raped each of them again.

From there she spent only a month working as a sex slave. At age 22 she was considered a bit old and was then sold to the Italians. On a boat to Italy she decided to escape and was found by a women who sent her to Padre Cesare who helped save her.
