EXCLUSIVE INK WRITERS WIN VONNEGUT SCHOLARSHIPS
Two members of our Exclusive Ink writing group, Isis Flores (left) and Paula Cloyd, were awarded scholarships at the Night of Vonnegut on Sunday, Feb. 22.
Paula won the Jane Cox Vonnegut Writing Award for her poem, and Isis received the Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library Writing Award for her essay. Shortridge alum Dan Wakefield, a friend of Kurt Vonnegut and the best-selling author of Going All the Way, presented the scholarships to Paula and Isis during the gala at the Central Library.
The prize-winning students enjoyed the festivities with their families and a huge room of Vonnegut-lovers that included comedian Lewis Black, who was the event’s keynote speaker.
The Writing in the Schools program congratulates Paula, Isis, and the staff of the Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library for a job so very well done.
