         New and improved developments in the professional sports world coming soon to Downtown Indianapolis! The Indiana Fever have leveled up their emphasis on player experience as the announcement of a brand new facility is emerging. 

     On January 16th, the Fever announced that they are creating a state-of-the-art complex worth $78 million for the athletes. Officials say the construction will begin later this year and is expected to be finished and ready to use by the 2027 season. This facility is said to be 108,000 square feet and be built on the intersection of Maryland and Alabama streets- where the former Marion County Jail was. Additionally, this facility will feature a skybridge that leads to Gainbridge Fieldhouse. 

     As the attention towards the WNBA increases, as does the need for more luxurious facilities for their players. Fever president Kelly Krauskopf said, “This elite training center is a reflection of our organization’s ongoing commitment to ensuring that our players have the highest level of resources to be successful.” Indianapolis Mayor, Joe Hogsett, stated “Indianapolis is proud to see this significant investment from Pacers Sports & Entertainment drive further momentum in women’s basketball in our community and continue to elevate our status as a major league sports city.” 

     According to an article from IndyStar, the facility will feature: 

  • Two regulation-sized courts
  • Strength and conditioning equipment 
  • Yoga and pilates area 
  • Hydration station 
  • Full-service kitchen
  • Retreat with massage, infrared light therapy, sauna, steam, hydrotherapy pools 
  • Private outdoor courtyard 
  • Mental performance spaces
