On Saturday Pierre Brooks II scored 30 points on 10 for 13 shooting that led the Butler Bulldogs in a 97-86 win against the Georgetown Hoyas at Hinkle Fieldhouse. The 30 points marks a career high for Brooks and totals him up to 1,000 career points, which is over his two seasons at Butler and his previous two seasons at Michigan State.
Brooks was named achiever of the game, but he was not the only Bulldog to have an outstanding game. Finley Bizjack scored 15 points, 13 of which came in the first half. Jahmyl Telfort and Patrick McCaffery each had 5 assists to contribute to Butler’s highest scoring game of the season.
The Bulldogs consistently powered through the full 40 minutes, ending the first half up 46-35. They had a 51.6% field goal percentage in the first and heated up 66.7% field goal percentage in the second. The Bulldogs never lost their lead in the second half after a string of 8 straight makes from the field to lead into halftime.
Butler earned a season high in free throw makes and attempts. They drew 29 fouls out of the Hoyas and went 28 for 35 in free throw makes. However, the pressure did force 14 Butler turnovers resulting in 19 points for Georgetown.
This win marks 3 wins in a row for Butler, making them 5-9 in the BIG EAST Conference. The Bulldogs head to Cincinnati next to face rival Xavier for the first time this season.
