We’re just around the corner from everyone’s favorite major, The Masters. It’s the best possible tournament to get the major season underway and there are a few guys that I think really have a shot at winning this year.
The first one is obviously Scottie Scheffler. Betting wise, he’s is only at 3/1 but he’s won 2 out of the last 3 Masters tournaments and is the #1 player in the World Golf Rankings for a reason. He didn’t play his best golf last week at TPC Sawgrass but still finished T20 and can shoot in the low 60s on any given day.
The next is Ludvig Aberg. He is one of the favorites and is at 14/1 to win the tournament currently. He’s a young stud in only his second season on tour but has cemented himself as one of the best players in the world already. Last year, in just his first ever Masters start, he finished in solo second place behind Scottie, but shot -3 on Sunday and definitely created chaos. He showed that he is a creative player who can hit the ball miles off the tee and compete with the best players in the world. Things didn’t quite go his way last week at The Players but look for him to bounce back at Augusta National.
The last guy to look out for is Joaquin Niemann. His name isn’t brought up as much after he left for the LIV tour, but he is one of the hottest players in the sport right now. He is ranked first on the LIV tour, won 2 out of the 3 past LIV tournaments, and finished T22 at last year’s Masters. Sportsbooks have him at 40/1 right now to win, which I think is a bit steep. Watch for Niemann to make some birdies and hang around when the week of The Masters rolls around.
