0Today I did everyday tasks. I shelved about 10 books in music reference and 2 in regular reference. This means that the 3 people might not have checked for books to shelve. I am working on the Newsletter articles for Michelle. I am emailing Michelle about the Newsletter because some of the articles still are not claimed. I am working on what questions to ask Renee for the Librarian spotlight piece.

0I did everyday tasks. Had to straighten up the room. Printers didn’t need filled. I thought Michelle was supposed to stop by for a meeting about the Newsletter, but she might have meant next Thursday, or Thursdays in general. She came by and we were discussing the Newsletter.

0Today I did everyday tasks. Shelved two books each in reference and music ref. The big stapler was jammed by about 10 staples. I put a note next to it further describing what 25pgs means because it usually jams when people try to staple less pages with it. I am working with the scanner trying to figure out how to use the global address search feature, but while I was doing that a patron came up to ask how to use the scanner. I am reading the new policies sent out by Eric. Have yet to find out how global address search works after an hour on and off the scanner. I did find that you can scan from the scanner to a USB drive. Helped a few more students with scanning help. I have noticed that so far this year I have had the most questions about copying and scanning. The second most on how to use the databases or catalog to search for something.

0I got the cash drawer. The count from last night said it was $19.05 short at a count of 130.75. This morning I counted $150.80 which a dollar above the amount that was supposed to be in there of $149.80. Not sure how that count got so off. I checked the printers, but they had already been filled today. I logged on a CTS student who wanted to scan documents on the scanner connected to the back computer. A librarian came over and was shelving books in the reference section, but I wasn’t sure why. I shelved Music reference books and magazines.

0Today I did everyday tasks. Forgot to clock in until 12:01. I responded to emails from Michelle about the Newsletter. I answered a patrons questions about if this was the main Library. I answered a question about library hours. I had a color print job, had to reprint because it cut off information, but the print preview was correct. We changed margins and it printed fine the second time.

0Today I got the cash drawer and counted the money, it matched last nights zero out report. I checked paper levels and straightened up the area. The right printer still says low toner. Need to ask the answer to this question “Can students from other universities print at Irwin Library?”: it needs to be updated on BUAnswers. Had a question about printing from personal computer. They have the Printsmart client, but it says the printer is offline. I don’t know what that means. The guy who services the Sharp copier came by and asked about paper usage and toner usage. He also asked about color printer to see if the problem was solved (I had a few color printings yesterday with no problems).

0I did everyday tasks. I helped with a question about a journal article. I edited a few BUAnswers to reflect new information. In the question “How do I connect my PC to the Butler printers on campus?” I changed \\ada to \\buprint for the new print drivers. There are two conflicting questions in BUAnswers. “Where can a student receive a fax?” states that students cannot receive a fax on campus and “Does the library have a fax machine I can use?” states that you can send or receive a fax at the circulation desk. Printers seem to be taking a while to print. People will stand by them for a min or two before anything comes out. We need to watch for multiple posts about the same subject. I posted in the “Updates” page about how to print on special paper from IL_120_K because it looked like we had a patron use the color printer because they had resume paper.

0Today I had two questions about journal, one being about the Sociology Journals from the professor that wants a hard copy of an article. I did the everyday tasks. The right printer was being picky about registering the main tray for printing as being closed. I read the Updates page and found a note about a scanning issue about having to reenter an email address. Ginny and I are going to test the problem when the scanner is free during my shift. Both printers had glitches today. The left one had a paper jam. I cleared it, but the error message would not go away. I turned the printer off and on and it was fine. The right one has a low toner message and cut off a print job when it was only half done. We looked at the scanner and found that when using the document feeder you enter your email address once and it will do one file with how many pages are on the feeder. If you need to do a different document you had to manually enter the email address again. I had one color print job. Another student asked about the Sociology journals. I went through BUAnwsers looking for items that needed updating.

0Today I did everyday tasks. I listened to part of the Moodle training session between student questions.
