Growing up in the church, I learned many biblical children’s songs, including “Jesus Loves Me,” “This Little Light of Mine,” and many, many more. These songs were taught to me before I was able to read and interpret the Bible. My Sunday School teachers and Vacation Bible School Leaders taught these to encourage learning about Jesus at an early age, and they helped me better interpret the Bible later. I still remember many of these songs, because, as we have learned in class, it is much easier to remember and understand lyrics put to a melody. These songs also made learning about Jesus joyful just as singing hymns is in the church service. Biblical songs, even though they may be cheesy, are extremely important to learn at a young age to make it easier to understand the Bible in the future and realize the importance of Christ.
