Welcome!

The European Songbird is a site dedicated to Revolutionary Music in Europe. More specifically, this site examines how music helped change the European worldview throughout the centuries. We hope to show you how music is in a constant state of perpetual change, and how new inventions, social changes, genius composers, and new ideas all contribute to this Revolution. The power of music can be demonstrated when a simple musical composition is able to bring about ethical issues and new imbalances in those who hold power. Most importantly, our goal is to educate people about the diverse musical culture of Europe’s past. Remember, for something to be revolutionary it does not require a massive war to take place. As music shifted through different instruments, changing periods of style, operas, and ballets it underwent drastic changes. These never-ending innovations prove music to be one of the most revolutionary topics in the history of Europe.
