Irwin Library presents bookwork, an exhibition of art created by recent Herron graduate Derrick Method. In this body of work, the artist has reclaimed discarded library books, repurposing them into functional pieces of furniture.  bookwork will be on display July 2-31 in Irwin Library’s Collaborative Learning Space (the right quad upon entering the library).  An opening reception will be held on Friday, July 2 at 7:00 pm; the Butler community is welcome to attend.  For more details, view the promotional flyer at:  http://www.butler.edu/library/PDF/dmethod-irwin-exhibition2010.pdf

While awaiting the start of this summer’s Tour de France, take a look at a display case in the Irwin Library entrance that honors Major Taylor, the Indianapolis native who battled racism to become the 1899 World Champion in the one mile bicycle race. He also lapped the entire field in an 1896 half mile race in Madison Square Garden.

Many of the libraries’ subscription databases have “mobile” versions that are scaled down to fit the screen size of most handheld devices. Just visit our Databases page like normal, but click on the “Mobile” icons located next to the database names to search those databases on your handheld device.
