To all:
We can scan items for students if the request is reasonable (i.e., a few pages or a few images). Just let Laina or myself know and we can do it on the E-reserve station. However, PLEASE DO NOT DO IT YOURSELF. The E-Reserve machine has critical processes in place that need to keep running.
Thanks,
Brad
Addendum: Scanner coming soon to a reference department near you!
For those of you who have ever needed to create a PDF file, we have a program installed at the Reference Desk that I would recommend to you. It’s called PrimoPDF and it’s a terrific FREE program that allows you to create PDF files. While there are all kinds of security settings you can implement (like disabling printing, etc.), the basic function is simple.
Just print your document and select PrimoPDF as your “printer.” It will ask you for a file name and allow you to change security settings before you click OK and save the PDF file. Pretty basic.
Another nice thing is that, since this program acts as a “printer,” anything you can print you can make a PDF file. Doesn’t matter if it’s a Word document, a spreadsheet, a webpage, or a library catalog entry. If you can print it, you can make it a PDF. Just change your printer from your default to PrimoPDF.
If you’d like to see it in action, feel free to stop by the Reference Desk.
Scott
The CHOICES III database is still available on that computer in the corner of the Reference Dept. And now there’s a manual with a couple of guides that Brad discovered online.
Thanks, Brad!
P.S. Those guides can be found:
The CHOICES III database is still available on a computer in the Reference Department. And now there is a manual at that workstation to give you some assistance in setting up your research question, selecting columns and rows, and interpreting the results. For those of you needing consumer data about product and brand usage, this tool is just the thing.
The Reference Section of Irwin Library will no longer be making printed forms available for filing income taxes. Instead, we encourage you to download the forms and booklets you need and to print out the forms that you need to mail in.
Websites for the necessary forms are:
There is also a website, through Access Indiana, where you can file your state taxes online for free. It’s at http://www.in.gov/ai/appfiles/i-file/index.html. Be sure to read the “View Requirements” to make sure you meet the technological and residential requirements.
Note: Neither Irwin Library nor any of the librarians can offer legal advice or counsel. Please seek appropriate legal tax counsel if needed.
