MY BEST FRIEND
by AUSTIN
A sweet girl in a lonely world.
She keeps me warm like no one else. For she’s my best friend,
She fills the spot.
If I lose her, I won’t replace her Cause she one of a kind.
Yeah we’re weird,
But I don’t care.
She’s the best of the best, like no one else.
And that, is exactly how I want it…
NEXT YEAR
by ELYZABETH
There’s so many people every inch, every step you take the adrenaline will race. The lights so bright you squib your eyes shut. You hear the crowd of the fans scream your name. You count the steps you take as you watch the box of people judging you on every step, every move you make as sweat is rolling down your neck.
The pace goes from fast to slow, and then back to fast. When it’s all over you are relieved yet sad.
And now comes the greatest part of all. They start naming awards four, three, two and now comes first place. We stand there with pride until we all get together and celebrate…the greatest day we’ve had yet. Can’t wait for next year.
THE WAY I AM
by ANDRE
The clothes I wear. The way that I act. The way I express myself. I show what I am all about. I am me. I wouldn’t want to be anyone else. I like to skip. I like to dance. That’s just me. You might be different, I’m all me. I like to be crazy. I show who I really am. Why would I hide me and who I want to be? I write differently. No one is like me. I’m one of a kind. I am unique. I love myself. I don’t care how others think about me. I like to write. I love math. I am a total math geek. So don’t judge , because i’ll always be me.
I DON’T BELIEVE IN DEATH
by DAIZJHA
I don’t believe in death.
I believe in new beginnings.
Honesty, and exploring now, so I know what I like so I can do it again “later.” I believe in communication through other lives, times and realms as you may say. Friends i’ve yet to meet but…met before. Giving me a sense of purpose because I know what this world holds.
Abuse, cruelty, girls and boys craving approval from their loved ones, creeps through me like a bug, etches itself on me like a spider. Infecting and filling my head, my soul like the rank, top class rank scent of sauerkraut.
I throw this place in denial because it’s so vile. Money rules this place. Judgement changes your pace and consequence changes your face because you’re scared. Cuddling the few things you haven’t given up yet.
Animals of humans tearing through you like wolves and turning you into their food that i’ll find the family of sin in ’em. Spending time with the ones you “love” became a task and now you have to ask yourself why you let us bend it.
I am my and us is not, you are you and should live that way but you’re raised to bend and flex with Earth so you don’t get hurt. Soot on ya face, you try to dig but the damn devils pull you back inward you’re climbing again.
Climbing to be free, to be, to see what i see, to hold the key i hold, to walk through the door I’ve seen but you have not her. I’ll give you the key “self-worth,” “self-worth,” “self-worth” to know your king and not a damn human should strike war in you.
Self-worth to know a tell instead of show tell and go to hell because you lied, because you tried to hide what was inside. Self-worth. Power don’t make you, fame won’t break you, lack of understanding will rape you… of what you deserve. Throw a fat “F U” at the guy next to you cause we don’t bend for no one.
THE FAMILY TREE
by KYLA
The darkened solstice and then there were none. All that you know is melted and gone.
The ashes of rain, the bloodshed and pain. The secret room, a palace of doom. The vertical blue, crystal tears and the heads of prisoners on a spear. The burst of seed, the hanging of greed. All fate is bound by the family tree.
Blood on the seal, the darkness arrives, world to appeal, an apocalypse thrives. Bound by a curse, it hangs by a thread, the fall of the mobsters, the rise of the dead. The honor of justice, the state of the free. All fate is bound by the family tree.
Fire in the eyes, and say your goodbyes. The scythe is swinging, you’re in for a reaping. The metal is hot, the warmth is sweet, forgive and forget or die and retreat. The symbol of love, family, tragedy. All fate is bound by the family tree.
The sky is dark, marked by futile cries. Love is lost as all light dies. The Alpha and Omega, beginning and end, a dark destiny holds, then good will ascend. Death is unavoidable, the cries and the pleas. All fate is bound by the family tree.
