About the blog

Hi Everyone!  I’m Rebecca Dolan, director of the Friesner Herbarium at Butler University for over 20 years.  I have a PhD in Botany from the University of Georgia and am a past president of the Indiana Native Plant and Wildflower Society (INPAWS).  I often write for the wonderful INPAWS Journal, but have been wanting a way to get timely information out about plants of seasonal interest that can be seen in and around Indianapolis.  That is what inspired this blog.  I will add posts from time to time as I seem something that catches my eye.

To learn more about the Friesner Herbarium, see http://www.butler.edu/herbarium/.

We are building a digital collection of historic specimens.  Check it out at: http://palni.contentdm.oclc.org/cdm/landingpage/collection/herbarium4.

I lead monthly nature walks around the Butler campus on the 2nd Tuesday of each month.  E-mail me (rdolan@butler.edu) to be put on my distribution list for reminders, topics, and to be notified on occassional cancellations.  Everyone is welcome to join us.
